When it comes to photographing your family, my goal is to keep the session as relaxed and comfortable as possible. As a fellow mother, I understand children can often be unpredictable and may not always want to listen during a photoshoot, however, rest assured—these experiences are completely normal, and I have encountered them many times over during the years.

Encouraging Play and Movement

With that said, you know your children best, so I encourage you to allow younger children to play and move freely. This helps them avoid feeling pressured to remain still and ensures that the experience is enjoyable for everyone involved. Usually, it takes just five to ten minutes for children—and adults—to warm up to the session. Once everyone is comfortable, the session naturally takes on a life of its own.

Capturing Genuine Moments

The most magical moments are often captured when you are not focused on the camera but are simply being present with one another. Remember to keep the bigger picture in mind: the essence of family photography is about cherishing time together and creating memories that reflect your genuine connections.
